If you really think that getting another cat is betraying the dead one, you are not mature enough to have any pet. Unless it's a parrot or a tortoise, humans outlive their pets and grief is part of pet ownership. That's the deal. Your parents would prefer a cat and since they are going to be more responsible for the bills and care than you are, you should go along with them.
