In high school, is it the same as in middle school with homerooms?

Well in my middle school we went to our homerooms for the morning announcements and then went to our cles but in high school i was igned to an advisory cl room for a week in the beginning of the year and then after that we just went to our 1st per cl for morning announcements and then continued on with 1st per. and then every wednesday we would make a new period between 3rd n 4th per to go to our advisory and we stay there for 45 min. and all the other per. are shortened. and we're usually sorted by our last names for advisory but for our regular cles its just by how smart we are and what would best fit our schedules.
